Praxitelous 33

The modernist apartment building of 33 Praxitelous street constructed during the second half of the 1930s, encompasses a sheltered stoa with small interior spaces and window fronts, as well as a real underground bunker shelter built during the Metaxas government. 89 years later, in attempt to reveal the historicity of the building, Athens Intersection designs and implements the group exhibition under the title BUNKER. Prior to this, Athens Intersection first introduced the building as an art venue to the Athenian residents, presenting the group exhibition CAMISA as a part of the 6th Back to Athens International Festival.

The Athens Intersection Cultural Program in collaboration with the Athens Commercial Triangle Revitalization Program Athens Trigono of the municipality of Athens, highlighted the building of Praxitelous 33, one of the important historical landmarks of modern Greek architecture ranging from 1860 through the 1930s to the 70s. Through a series of visual art exhibitions, installations and performances, Athens Intersection, organizes and curates a full interdisciplinary program with the participation and collaboration of other curators and contemporary artists from all over the world.
